Suffolk farming company Blythburgh Pigs, has been named Producer Retailer in the National Pig Awards 2014.
Announced at a glittering awards ceremony held in central London earlier this week, the Butler family’s pig breeding and meat production company was praised for its productive free range pork enterprise and its partnerships with national meat wholesalers and food service businesses.
Robert Lawson, Rattlerow’s Joint Managing Director presented the award and said it was much deserved.
Now in its second generation, the Butler business embarked on free range pork production aside its contract pig production enterprise during the early 2000s. It offered diversification and an opportunity to secure better prices for its products.
The decision proved fruitful and now the business has its own brand and is totally committed to free range pig production. Its products are sold to a number of prestigious retailers and restaurants and supply key wholesalers, independent butchery, caterers and food service outlets.
