William Symons has been awarded Rattlerow Farms’ second AHDB scholarship
An undergraduate at Harper Adams University, he was presented with his 2016/17 award by Simon Guise, Rattlerow’s UK Sales Manager, during HAU’s annual scholarship presentation day.
William is from Essex, where his family have a farming business with an arable land and a small pig herd. A keen rugby player, he will begin his scholarship during the summer and will fulfil a year’s work-placement with Rattlerow, learning about all aspects of its pig breeding, arable and energy production business.
“We are delighted to be sponsoring another Harper Adams scholar and are looking forward to hosting William. As a company we have a huge commitment to training and career progression and believe the AHDB Pork scholarship scheme offers undergraduates a unique insight into the pig sector and the opportunities it offers,” said Mr Guise.
Adam Brankley, Rattlerow’s first Scholar is halfway through his work placement. This is Adam’s first experience of modern, commercial pig production. He will return to HAU to complete his foundation degree in Agriculture in the Autumn.
The 12-month AHDB scholarship scheme is now an integral part of HAU’s agricultural degree courses.
